Who is Amerimax and how long have we been manufacturing vinyl windows and doors?
Amerimax Building Products, Inc. is a leading international producer of value-added aluminum, steel, vinyl and fiberglass products. Based in Norcross, Georgia, Amerimax employs more than 3,500 highly trained and dedicated employees throughout its vast manufacturing and distribution network consisting of 55 strategically located facilities, 46 of which are in the United States, one in Canada, and eight in Europe.
Formerly Alumax Building Products, Inc., Amerimax Building Products, Inc., entered the custom replacement vinyl window market in 1986 establishing its first window fabrication plant in Loveland, Colorado. In 1990, after experiencing rapid growth and increasing demand in the western United States, vinyl window fabrication was integrated into the Woodland, California facility. Amerimax currently serves the western United States with multiple lines of the finest custom-manufactured vinyl window products available.

Why should I buy vinyl instead of wood, fiberglass or aluminum windows or doors?
Vinyl is virtually maintenance free and color-fast. Vinyl products offer the energy efficiency of wood and fiberglass but generally at a lower cost. While the initial cost of aluminum products can be less expensive than vinyl, the overall cost of ownership can be much higher because aluminum does not offer the energy efficiency that vinyl does. Amerimax vinyl does not rot, corrode, rust or peel. It is insect resistant, does not need painting and is significantly more thermally efficient than either steel or aluminum windows.
Who tests and certifies the Amerimax windows and doors?
There are two types of testing done on all Amerimax window and door products.
One type of testing includes standards and requirements set forth by AAMA/ANSI (American Architectural Manufacturers Association/ American National Standards Institute) which includes structural, air infiltration and water penetration. The tests are performed by accredited independent laboratories. The results are then administered and certified by Keystone Certification Inc., an ANSI accredited, licensed, independent certification agency. The products are then labeled with the appropriate AAMA certification labels.
The second test is for the thermal value standards and requirements set forth by NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council). These test requirements are for the u-value, the solar heat gain coefficient, the visible light transmittance, and the condensation resistance factor. The tests are performed by accredited independent laboratories. The results are then administered and certified by Keystone Certification Inc., an ANSI accredited, licensed, independent certification agency. The total window or door thermal ratings are printed on NFRC labels and adhered to each product.
What will make a window more energy efficient?
A vinyl window or door by its nature is an extremely energy efficient product. Since vinyl is nonmetallic, it is inherently more thermally efficient than other products on the market. The conduction of heat through a vinyl window is minimal compared to windows made of aluminum or any other metallic substance. Vinyl's thermal properties and insulating values make it an excellent choice for use in cold climates as well. A glass package can be added to the window or door that includes options such as a Low Emissivity glass with TrueWARM® Structural Foam Spacer that increases the efficiency of the complete products as certified by NFRC.
What is Low Emissivity glass (LowE, LoE)
Specially designed coatings, often based on metallic oxides, are applied to one or more surfaces of insulated glass. These coatings reflect radiant infrared energy, thus tending to keep radiant heat on the same side of the glass from which it originated, while letting visible light pass. This often results in more efficient windows because: radiant heat originating from indoors is reflected back inside, thus keeping heat inside in the winter, and infrared radiation from the sun is reflected away, keeping it cooler inside in the summer.
What kind of Low Emissivity glass does Amerimax offer?

What is Neat® coating?
A Titanium Dioxide layer that reacts with the sun to decompose organic materials on the glass. A Silicone Dioxide layer creates an ultra smooth surface and hydrophilic action to disperse water evenly or "sheet off".

How do I know if my windows or doors are being installed properly?
Even the best manufactured product must be installed properly (plumb, level and square) to insure proper operation and maximum thermal efficiency. Do your homework to make sure you are hiring a qualified installer. Check with friends and family, go on line to the contractor licensing board and check with other agencies to make sure the installation company you are hiring is qualified. If you have doubts about the installation, talk to your contractor about your concerns directly.
If I have a problem with my windows or doors, how do I go about getting it fixed?
If you have a problem that you cannot resolve, contact the Amerimax dealer where you made your purchase. They will want to talk to you and perform an inspection. If at that time they determine there is a manufacturing defect, they will submit a request to Amerimax for a warranty repair. That will be followed up by a phone call to you from someone at Amerimax that will help you get your problem properly addressed.
